September newsletter
Hi All,
It has been ages since I wrote a newsletter because this web site has been up-dated and that has taken a while. Also I am now learning to manage it myself. So any spelling mistakes are mine.
I had a great teaching trip to the US and Canada in April/May this year and had a fun time meeting up with old and new friends. I even had my 70th birthday in Oregon with a surprise birthday party with spinning friends.
Currently I am busy writing a new book, called Learn to Spin With Anne Field (a good egotistical title!), with my new publisher, Bateman's. They are so enthusiastic and supportive. It is supposed to be at the publisher at the beginning of December so it can be out September/October 2011. I write in the studio every afternoon and weave in the mornings and in the evenings at home I spin for the book projects. I have discovered that spinning silk with a cat on your lap is not a good idea. We both get covered in fibre!. There is lots about spinning fibres other than wool so I am learning heaps.
The new edition of Spinning Wool beyond the Basics is due out next month, and a new US edition of the Collapse weave book came out last month so lots is happening in the book field.
I am in the process of arranging next year's teaching trip to the US and Canada. It will be in April/May and so far I am teaching in Nashville, Memphis, and will be in Ontario as keynote speaker at their conference. I am also traveling to Vancouver and San Francisco. Now the guilds are coming back from their summer vacation I am just confirming workshops. When I have it all arranged I will post my itinerary here.
A new workshop on Advanced Collapse weave, is up in my workshops list. I am weaving the samples now so there may be some changes. The first sample I did was so complex that I made too many mistakes so decided to do another one in its place. This workshop happened because so many who have been on my basic collapse workshop wanted another one.
